Nestled in the township of Irvington where the challenges and obstacles are often described as far greater than its neighboring cities and towns sits a facility solely committed and dedicated to provide high quality education and new experiences to both early childhood and school aged children. Despite the realities, what some might call barriers and daily restraints, you will find committed and dedicated individuals who seek to provide positive support, inspiration, resources, quality services, and quality education.
I have dedicated my entire adult life to inspire and promote high quality children services and education for families. I understand the challenges and obstacles firsthand in raising two special needs children and fighting for services and resources to be provided to allow them an equal opportunity. With the mindset of unlimited possibilities and endless opportunities, a seed was planted and a vision initiated.
Harmony Education and Life Partners is an organization seeking and committing to creating a safe, prosperous, thriving Irvington community with well educated and mannered children. Identifying a specific need to help children from low-income families be prepared for school and society, we particularly focus on the critical needs of children and their families.
Over the years, it has been evident that many people have had their reservations about entering the town of Irvington based on what they saw on the news or read in newspapers. It is not until you see the promise and dreams of every smile that walks through our doors at Harmony, that you will understand that it is up to us to build pathways of opportunity through our community to warrant change. In order to succeed in that quest it takes tireless effort and teamwork. I am proud to share that with the collaborative efforts of visionary educators, involved parents and concerned community leaders and organizations, graduates have gone to gifted and talented academic programs.
We strive to bring new experiences to our youth by aligning ourselves with willing organizations and volunteers. To see the expressions, laughter and smiles of our children when the Traveling Farm comes to our facility, or when we plant and grow vegetables in our garden is well worth the struggle and battles we fight every day. Many of them have never seen a rabbit or a goat except for illustrations in a book. Many of them have never planted vegetables because there are no yards or gardens to plant the seeds. Our ability to get other communities and volunteers involved such as the Master Gardners, expanded food and nutrition education program through Rutgers Cooperative Research, Arkenetts Volunteer Sorority group, Community Action Group, Momentum Reading Group and Early Intervention to name a few is truly remarkable.
Our common goal as parents, educators and leaders is to serve as many children as possible to reach a common vision which is a world of opportunity just as I was able to establish with my own two autistic children. We are all equal living in a world with unlimited possibilities and endless opportunities.
