Make the Harmony Choice! from Harmony Education on Vimeo.

At Harmony Day Care, we view each child as a unique and special person with his or her own pattern and timing of growth. We are devoted to providing a wealth of opportunities for discoveries, new experiences, problem solving, and accomplishments. Based on brain research children need to be polite & well-mannered to learn. We strongly emphasize social skills and academic achievements.

At Harmony, your child will be well-mannered and respectable toward others. We believe that all areas of a young child’s development (social, emotional, physical, and cognitive) are integrated and that optimal development of these areas is derived from positive and supportive relationships with adults. Our curriculum encourages children to be actively involved in the learning process, to experience a variety of developmentally appropriate activities, and to pursue their own interests as unique individuals amongst their peers.

About our child care programs:

1. We provide daycare for infants 6 weeks and older.
2. We have both full-time and part-time programs for preschool ages.
3. For busy parents there is before and after school care.
4. In the summer we provide a fun Summer Camp for school-age children.

Attendance Requirements:
It is important that a child be present each day that school is in session unless serious reasons prevent attendance.   Frequent absences interfere with continuity of instruction and reduce a student’s ability to maintain a high level of achievement.   There are times, however, when it is in the best interest of all concerned that children not be sent to school.   It is requested that children not come to school with severe colds, fevers, rashes, or any illness, which might be contagious.   If your child is going to be absent, it is school policy that parents report such absences to the office before 9:00 AM.

For short-term illnesses, teachers will provide missed instruction and work after children are well and return to school.

Family trips that are taken when schools are in session incur a loss of instructional opportunities, which really can never be recovered.   Parents are advised that the school will not arrange for homework to be taken on such trips.

Curriculum:
Our preschool curriculum begins at 9:00 am sharp.  It is based on early childhood foundations and it introduces language, math, science and social skills in a logical, natural sequence to encourage learning one step at a time.   Our teachers also provide plenty of individual attention to support your child’s unique needs and interests.
Our program provides a rich classroom environment where children are encouraged to explore and learn, while developing social skills.   Because children learn by doing, we provide various opportunities for hands-on experience, such as creating collages and/ or baking cookies.   This approach helps maximize the learning process through the combination of creative expression and tactile experience.
The objective of Harmony’s educational program is to provide the best possible learning environment for children and to extend opportunities to parents thereby increasing their understanding of child development.
In order to enhance each child’s development of self esteem, social, emotional, physical, and intellectual skill, the program consists of:

1. A routine of daily activities that each child can count on.
2. Staff/child interactions that are warm, nurturing and compassionate.
3. Activities that are consistent with the child’s developmental interest and experiences.   Each Child will learn to make choices, to problem solve, and most importantly, experience the freedom that comes from understanding their environment, and doing things for themselves.
